SaaS platform architecture on AWS
A US SaaS platform needing architecture, scale, and cost discipline.
Problem
A US SaaS platform needing architecture, scale, and cost discipline.
Approach
Led cloud engineering for a US SaaS platform on AWS: designed the microservices and API architecture, DB schemas (MySQL RDS, Cassandra), and the AWS roadmap across logging, encryption, metrics, storage, compute, delivery, security, and sustainability. Hands-on across Kubernetes on AWS, Lambda, VPC, IAM, S3, CloudWatch, Route53/CDN, and backup strategy - plus platform cost optimization measures and team leadership: resource acquisition, training, and sprint management across all engineering teams.
Architecture
Architecture is a budget decision
Every AWS architecture choice is also a cost choice. The roadmap here treated cost as a first-class requirement alongside security and reliability - right-sizing compute, storage tiering, and designing services so scale-up doesn't mean bill-up. Principal-level cloud work is knowing what the design costs before the invoice does.
